- Brussels has issued weekly wheat export certificates totalling 560,461 mt, which brings the season total to 8.026 million mt. This is 1.23 million mt (18.1%) ahead of last year. Barley exports for the week reached 19,470 mt, which brings the season total to 1.216 million mt, which is 2.62 million mt (68.3)% behind last year.
- Egypt’s GASC has purchased a further 180,000 mt of wheat in its latest tender, this time for mid November shipment. On this occasion Russia secured 60,000 mt at $186.99/mt basis C&F with Romania picking up the remaining 120,000 mt at $187.00/mt. This latest purchase brings Egyptian wheat procurement to 1.5 million mt so far this season, which is some 600,000 mt behind their purchases a year ago. Perhaps most interesting was the US offer made at this tender, HRW, which is too high in protein to meet the tender specification, but priced at a reported $6.00/mt below the winning bids! The news surprised many and immediately fuelled a sharp price rally in Chicago futures, which closed last night almost 4% higher.
